I started blogging only three months ago so I don’t claim to be an expert on SEO! But I’ve learned a lot since then and would like to share some of my experiences, successes and links.
I was pleasantly surprised recently when I used Google with the keywords ‘technoblue wordpress style’. Now admittedly those aren’t particularly high ranking keywords but they are relevant to my blog! Links to my site were at no’s 1,2,3,8,9,10! (See a screenshot.) In addition ‘More results from antiguawebsolutions.com‘ gave a total of 143 links to my blog!
Other keywords such as K2 wordpress style, 3k2 wordpress style, 3K2 style, technoblue style, all rank on the first page. So here’s a list of my (decidedly non-expert) tips!
1. Content, content, content!
I’ve made a lot of posts with the words K2, technoblue and WordPress in the post title over the last 2 months. Make sure you use your keywords in your post titles and throughout the article. Find your niche and post, post, post articles in your niche!
2. Ping!
Ping all the relevant update services. Here are some you could use. Copy and paste into ‘Update Services’ from the Options, Writing tab on your WordPress dashboard.

However I found that as my connection isn’t always very fast (one of the downsides to living in Antigua!) I was having problems on saving posts. Pinging so many services caused a download box to appear instead of saving my post. A better way is to use Feedburner’s PingShot service. Set up a feed with them and they will ping a customisable list of services for you.
3. Join Blogging Communities
Not only are they fun to meet fellow bloggers and check out blogs in your niche but they are great for getting placed in search engines. Add relevant tags to your profile/blog and add your feed address. I’ve found that blogcatalogue consistently comes up high in the rankings for me. 3 of my top ten were links to my tags in blogging communities. Here’s some to get you started.
4. Bookmark your posts with social bookmarking sites.
Create backlinks by bookmarking your posts with popular bookmarking sites. Add relevant tags. I’ve found that del.icio.us consistently ranks high for my posts. 1 of my top ten was a link to my tags on del.icio.us.

Of course there is a lot more to SEO! These are just some of the ways I’ve found to boost my ranking.

All good points. I will add, after content, build links. Just be mindful that you aren’t building links in a manner that will draw the ire of Google. There is no point in building a lot of links fast in link scemes, only to alienate your greatest source of traffic.
Good set of tips, although I haven’t used the fourth so much myself the other 3 definitely help out.
It is pleasant to see that everyone is sharing their own tricks in the SEO community. Definitely content is the key.
